  • 13. Larry Henke  |  October 2nd, 2006 at 4:39 pm

you think the bulls in these pictures are big there is a 2006 bull taken archery in Idaho thats picture is going around. It has 12 points on one side and 9 or 10 on the other and a outside spread of 79 inches.

  • 14. Troy s  |  October 2nd, 2006 at 8:50 pm

I’ve seen the picture your talking about Larry, That bull is so big it doesn’t look real. Does anyone know any more about it? I heard it green scores over 570, and it looks like it will if the picture is real. Also told it was taken in the Selway/Bitterroot in Idaho by an Archery hunter. All rumors at this point.

  • 15. Jason Gates  |  October 3rd, 2006 at 12:26 pm

I’ve seen the pictures of the Idaho bull, I was wondering if it is on any web sites yet?

  • 16. unknown  |  October 3rd, 2006 at 10:35 pm

oviously this is a phony bull story. You know the guy who shot this has seen in it on the internet
and he can’t even leave his name. Believe me, If anybody ever shoots a bull this big, they will have in every paper and his name would be right beside it. No guts, No glory buddy. Send in your name and maybe even a place to come and see it, if it’s so real.

saw pic of the supposed record bull, got excited, and forwarded photo to folk i know. then found out its a hoax. too bad, wish only true stories would come out. wonder who is responsible for story

  • 18. Alex  |  October 10th, 2006 at 2:42 pm

The big elk supposedly taken in Idaho was really taken on a game ranch in Quebec. Go to www.boone-crockett.org and click on trophy watch. The Sept. 29 post titled “email overload” explains. Remember, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Now for my schpeel: hunters have enough opposition without internal bickering. Lets keep it fair chase and place emphasis on enjoyment, ethics, and passing it on. Good luck to all and safe hunting!

There seems too be no middle ground here. It is for, or against! I doubt that B&C will allow it as the rules are a set standard. There was a very large Mule Deer taken last year and I don’t believe it was allowed for reasons that it was taken on a reservation by an Indian. So because it was not available too the public it was not allowed. And it was a record breaker-not a farmed deer. So I think this is a decision that B&C will have too make, and I would be surprised if they let this one through.

I am not very familiar with scoring elk antlers or just where I stand with the bull I harvested this fall. It is a rocky mtn bull and from my uninformed scoring, I scored it at 416. Not at all sure of this being an accurate score, but where does this stand with the record book. Any info would be appreciated.

  • 21. Gerry Waddington  |  October 24th, 2006 at 8:40 pm

Sorry we made a mistake on the 416.

  • 22. Haley  |  November 3rd, 2006 at 12:03 pm

I was wondering if someone could contact me about a deer that my grand father hand scored by Boone and Crockett a few odd years ago I am now doing a reashearch project no the person who shot this deer (Edwin O’Lester Savell) and i was woundering if the deer’s score was put down on an actual record

  • 23. David King - King's Outdoor World  |  November 3rd, 2006 at 12:16 pm

    Haley,
I just did a search on the Boone & Crockett trophy search and did not come up with any results for Edwin O’Lester Savell. Your best bet is to contact Boone & Crockett directly and see if they can help you out further.

    To: Troy S.

Troy you need to keep up on all hunting issues, it seems your a bit behind, Dave has had a blog on this story for weeks even over a month. It is all explained in there, if you would simply go to the blog called “The biggest Elk - 575 Archery Bull” you would know that it isn’t a rumor the bull is real and also anything else you want to know is there, so Troy read on.

Got a question .I shot a doe this year in Indiana. It dressed out at 180lbs. They told me live wieght was well over 200 lbs. Is there records for antlerless deer if so where do you find out. Just curious since everyone that has seen this deer said its the biggest one they have ever saw.

    Thanks, Joe

what is the min. requirement to make the record books for elk in the state of washington?

  • 28. Mark  |  January 10th, 2007 at 5:46 pm

There isn’t any records for antlerless deer, one of the reasons they have records for buck deer is because of peoples fasination with antlers, I don’t think to many people have fasinations about how much a doe weighs

  • 29. Michael Rod..  |  January 12th, 2007 at 7:49 am

I was just wondering there has been a few stories about woman setting new records for deer that they have harvested, for being women. Are there any such records for handicap people for being handicap. I am interested because on June 12th. 2006 I was in a accident that left me a paraplegic. I went out opening day of 2006 Nov.29th, and killed me the biggest mule deer I have ever seen.

I recentally aquired a Wild Cat trophy killed in Colorado during the mid 50`s. Excellant condition, having been protected from dust and etc. The unofficial measurments of this cat is 9inches from nose tip to skull base and 8 inches across skull for a total (unofficial) of 17 inches. The cat measures 95 inches un length from nose to end of tail. Now this is a trophy and a half, I would say.
