Guns Banned in San Francisco!
November 9th, 2005 David King - King's Outdoor World
Bad news for all of us. Yes, this affects all of us. Yesterday voters of San Fransisco approved Proposition H. More about Proposition H can be found on this earlier post. The NRA is challenging with a lawsuit to try and overturn this new ruling. Here is the official reply from the NRA.
NRA to File Lawsuit Challenging San Francisco Gun Ban
Yesterday the voters of San Francisco, California voted to strip you of your gun rights.
They approved Proposition H, a measure banning the lawful possession, sale and manufacture of handguns and ammunition within city limits. They also banned the transfer of all rifles and shotguns, even among family members.
The effect of the measure is local but its supporters are sending a message across America that voters want to support gun bans at the ballot box. And they are hoping to spread that message to a politician near you.
If they are successful, they will spark a national feeding frenzy in the elite media, spreading the lie that there is no political support for our Second Amendment rights. And some local, state and federal lawmakers will believe them.
We have no intention of standing idly by while the anti-gun lobby tries to build momentum for gun ban measures in other communities.
No, we intend to strike down this ill-advised, clearly illegal and unconstitutional measure - before it spreads like wildfire. I hope we can count on your help.
In response to the passage of Proposition H, NRA is filing suit today to stop this unconstitutional ban.
This gun ban scheme not only violates federal constitutional guarantees, but also the California statute that gives the state sole authority to regulate firearms. But the outcome of any court proceeding is far from guaranteed.
We are bringing the finest legal minds and constitutional authorities to bear, and we will incur sizeable legal fees and expenses. But the defense of our Second Amendment rights demands no less. We will borrow the money if we have to…but we will fight this ban until freedom prevails.
Will you stand with us by making a one-time, online, secure contribution to help fund our legal battle? Please click here to make your secure, online contribution by credit card right now. Your donation of $100, $50, or $25 will replenish our financial firepower to ensure that we have the resources to fight this battle in the California courts and across the nation.
We will not stand idly by while the enemies of freedom conspire to undo our constitutionally guaranteed Second Amendment rights. Your help in this most urgent matter is deeply appreciated.
Sincerely,
Chris W. Cox
Executive Director, NRA-ILA

I think that San Francisco voters have gone insane. Gun control does not reduce crime. Mandatory sentences for gun crimes will lower crime rates.

Good job Frisco! What do you expect in the land of adam and steve? I live in Ca., but look forward ever year to traveling to Utah, Arizonia, and Colorado where reality lives. We laugh at the signs “WELCOME HUNTERS COLD BEER & POP”. Deer and Elk hide collection barrels at the local grocery store. Thats real America, not Frisco. Those freaks, the same ones that control our mountain lion population, are out of touch with reality. Adolf would be proud of them. Crime is good and big business in California.

Here is an update on the gun ban in San Fransisco. It has been delayed for a little bit anyway. Hopefully it will get overturned.

SAN FRANCISCO POSTPONES ENFORCEMENT OF GUN BAN . . . San Francisco’s city attorney Dennis Herrera announced last week that Proposition H, a citywide gun ban, would not go into effect until at least mid-June while a Superior Court judge considers the issues involved. The measure, passed last fall, bans possession of handguns by city residents except for law enforcement officers and others who need guns for professional purposes. It also prohibits the sale, manufacturer, transfer and distribution of firearms within the city. “We think a voluntary stay is the best, most prudent course in the midst of this litigation,” said a spokesman for Judge James Warren.

People just do not realize what they are giving up. Once the give up the smallest amount of freedom a larger amount becomes targeted. I would like to ask the citizens that live in fear of guns one simple question, when was the last time an officer in uniform with a displayed side arm was mugged in San Fran. And who are these people that our Goverment are always refering to that NEED a gun, Why are they more important than you or me. Are Americans becoming ignorant or do they just not care…………

You guys cant let them do it. We have been fighting this one up here for years, and its really not looking good, even in light of a recent new Canadian government. Dont quite know what to say. If you are a lover of the shooting sports, and our traditional way of life, you will have to now put your money where your mouth is. Its the only way to beat this. EVERY person must be counted. If it will help you loosen up your wallet, just look at Australia, and look at Canada. I am just not sure how its all going to end up, up here. B A T T L E - S T A T I O N S

I once saw a bumper sticker that read “when guns have been outlawed only outlaws will have guns” I never thought that one of our constitutional rights would be tested like this, and I am appaled. Being a hunter who loves it for the sights of being out in the wild and for the fact of supplying food for my family you can bet you butt that I am against this and will do whatever it takes on my end to help stop this. And by the way I guess that if they do end up winning this I WILL be an outlaw. and they can have my guns ……………….after they pry then from my dead cold hands
