Biggest Buck by a Woman
April 17th, 2006 David King - King's Outdoor World

Sneak peak of a new record typical mule deer taken by Myra Smith in Sonora Mexico January 2006. See great photos and read the story in an upcoming issue of Hunting Illustrated.
Myra Smith was hunting in Sonora Mexico and came across a mule deer of a lifetime. In fact, for a woman it is a mule deer for the top spot in the record books. Myra’s awesome typical mule deer is the largest taken by a woman. It has just been offically scored by Boone and Crockett at an incredible 213 5/8 gross and 210 2/8 net typical. There were only 3 3/8-inches of deductions. The only thing that could make it even better, is that Myra was wearing her favorite camouflage - King’s Desert Shadow Camo!
You will see more of Myra’s record buck in the pages of Hunting Illustrated.

Women should be allowed to have their own Boone and Crockett category. This deer is an incredible achievement for any woman, and even most men. She deserves to be honored. Women don’t have the same chances that men do in hunting, which makes something like this even more impressive.

Awesome Buck Myra! i hope someday i can get one that big. Men underestimate us women when it comes to hunting, but I think that you just proved them all wrong.Good Luck in the future.

The number 2 and 3 writer are turning this world record buck into a womans right thing. Everyone, man or woman have the same chances to shoot a record book animal. It is all luck. Myra, beautiful buck and good luck next year.

Josh,
No, its not all luck. It takes scouting and lots of homework to harvest one of these monarchs! Myra likely did not do it, but give the guide(s) outfitter or whoever credit. Although I do agree it does take some luck.

For Steve,
Im not certain that you know just what it takes to harvest an animal of this calibur. I think credit has been given right where it needs to be. My wife puts just as much into pulling off some of our hunts as I do, even if she does need just a little encouraging here and there. Way to go Myra, I bet it took everything you had to not only locate that brute, but to also maintain your composure long enough to see the plan through, come good or bad outcome. I know I would be overwhelmed !!

Myra is my idol. I am keeping a file on her trophies. Looking forward to seeing her on her own outdoor show…Maybe she will even let Greg shoot a trophy, or at least make an attempt at it.
