Polaris Ranger Browning Edition
April 24th, 2006 David King - King's Outdoor World

I just picked up a new machine to test. I had a great visit with Polaris at the SHOT Show back in February. I had just met with Browning and noticed next to their booth that Polaris was there showcasing the new Ranger 700. However, this machine was a little special as it was a Browning Edition full of great accessories and of course the great Browning logo.
It comes with a 700cc twin EFI (Electronic Fuel Injection) powerplant, awesome winch, camouflage plastic and rims, rear independent suspension, huge dump box, and great powder-coated roll cage and front bumper. It is set up to hold a ton of accessories. We are going to have some fun in the next few weeks as we put this monster machine to the test.
Look for the full test to be featured in Hunting Illustrated available in July.

Just wondering if anyone has a 700 xp ranger with a full metal cab and how you feel about the noise level while riding and do you ride with the doors open.

Hello Just had to replace a fuel pump in the ranger, does 140.00 just for the part sound reasonable or very high price from a polaris dealer? Also when carrying afull load of horse manure in attached wagon warrant low gear?

The Polaris Ranger XP with Electronic Fuel Injection is nice. Some people also seem to like the Kawasaki Mule utility vehicles for hunting. People who own the Kawasaki Mule 3010 Trans4×4 talk really highly of it… hauls a LOT of people & gear plus it’s really quiet. Kawasaki Mule Sounds like the Kawasaki Mule it is slow though with a top speed of only 25mph. Nice to be able to haul 4-6 people though as well as gear in the rear cargo bed. In terms of power and performance, the Ranger XP 700 is obviously a better choice as long as you don’t want to carry more than 2 or 3 people and some gear.

Hello, I just bought a Polaris Ranger EFI XP. I just took it out for a ride this past weekend and dificulty shiting gears. I had to turn it off to change gears. Now is running ok, but is there a secret to this?
Regards,
11. AC | October 25th, 2006 at 6:36 pm
I’ve had no difficulty shifting gears from High to low to neutral to reverse. Just have to come to a stop, let the engine idle and push/pull the gear lever. No prob. No secret.

12. mr | November 13th, 2006 at 1:44 pm
If the idle is set too high, you won’t be able to shift it very well. Must be stopped, idle set to specifications

the noise in the 700 metal cab is horrible but the ride itself is wonderful. i love the polaris ranger and the noise is the only thing i would change. if anyone has any suggestion let me know, i was thinking of putting a radio in it but with the noise its not worth the money.

I have an ‘06 Browning edition 700 xp and I love it. The only problem I am having is the camo is fading and turning purple.
Other than the fading I haven’t had any problems.

I HAVE JUST PURCHASED THE 07′ BROWNING EDITION RANGER XP.I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE BEEN INTERESTED IN PURCHASING A UTV FOR A WHILE AND THINK I HAVE MADE A GOOD DECISION . THE RIDE IS UNBELEIVABLE , ALMOST TOO SMOOTH TO WHERE 45-50 MILES AN HOUR ISN’T FAST ENOUGH. DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN GET EVERY BIT OF POWER FROM THIS MOTOR? I KNOW I WILL NEED TO PURCHASE ACCESSORIES BUT WITH JUST RECENTLY BUYING THE RANGER I WOULD LIKE SOME SUGGESTIONS ON HOW TO MAKE MY RANGER THE FASTEST,TOUGHEST,BEST LOOKING UTV TO EVER TO BLAST THROUGH THE WOODS?

I have had the front motor mount break on my 2007 Polaris 800 Sportsman twice in 3 months. The plate steel plate is separating from the rubber dampener. Anybody else having same problem?

Have an XP 700 Love It. I only wish they would offer offroad safety equipment. i.e. rear amber light, rear view mirroros, turn signals. This may not be necessary on Golf Course, Or a Farm, on the west coasr, we us these fantastic vehicles to set up OffRoad race courses, and all us loonies, even have races for them.

I have an 06 Polaris Ranger Browning Edition. It has been great up unitl the CVT belt shredded twice. Be careful not to hold the break and gas simultaneously. No DRAG RACING!!! The front motor mount has broken which caused an alignment issue with the CVT system. I still wouldnt trade it for any other UTV. In South Florida I have pulled out so many Rhinos I have lost count. If you like the mud…the winch is a must. Keep the machine clean and do your maintenance or it will cost you.

I have a 2003 Ranger 4×4 and have replaced the fuel pump twice. Polaris price is way high. Went to an automotive parts store and bought a 3 -5 psi fuel pump for less than $50. Works great! Better than the $140.00 than Polaris wants. Other than this issue, have had zero problems with it. Keep up the maintenance though.

I have a 2005 Ranger and am having carb. problems. I replaced needle valve and seat and it still isn’t running right. I have considered buying a new one but the $300.00 dollars is a little stiff right now. Also the overheating light comes on and off. last year fan went out and replaced the ECM. Not a happy Ranger owner right now. Help.

where can you buy the browning edition ranger?
28. mike m | August 18th, 2007 at 2:02 pm
I have an ‘06 Ranger 4×4 I bought in October ‘05, really has been a nice unit, I was a Honda atv guy but I am sold on this unit. I use it for hunbting but recently built a house on a few acres and it was invaluable. I had the opportunity to drive a Kawasaki mule this summer down a logging road for about 2.5 hours, I am sure proud I bought a Polaris. That was the roughest riding, slowest UTV I have ever ridin’, I couldn’t enjoy the excursion for the backbreaking ride, I am sure they are depenable but I wouldn’t trade mine for 2 Mules.

Has anyone heard of any recalls on the purple camoflauge on the polaris ranger browning edition? I hate knowing that I paid extra to get the BARNEY EDITION RANGER!!!! (PURPLE), instead of the browing edition. Polaris should stand behind this or I will make sure that this is an issue. The internet can be an SOB for bad advertisement!!!!!! Polaris get off your A@#!!! and do something about this embarassment
34. Shane | October 3rd, 2007 at 8:01 pm
Just a little more info… I bought the thing in Sept 06 and started having problems with it 1 month later. Unfourtunately I paid cash and it seems that in doing so have lost any bargining with the dealer and forget about talking to POLARIS CORP.
35. Bill | October 15th, 2007 at 8:55 pm
I just bought a 2007 Limited Edition Ranger XP, along with the entire “Lock and Ride” cab system. I love the ride of the Ranger, I don’t like how noisy it is inside the cab when the doors are mounted, and I certainly am disappointed about the front engine mount recall that I just received from Polaris that my dealer is still scratching his head about. The comment is, “Oh, you guys get those recall notices way before we dealers do.” Well, that doesn’t build my confidence in their oganization and product warranty. It’s been two weeks and I still can’t get an answer from my dealer as to when the parts to replace the front motor mount will arrive and exactly what they will have to do to replace it. So, my new UTV has been sitting in the garage for two weeks, waiting for Polaris and their dealer to get their heads together and fix my front engine mount. I love the machine; but, I’m getting a little tired of the run around I’ve been getting for the last couple of weeks. Now if I use it and the motor mount breaks, that will cause undue wear of the belt and additional damage, so I’m stuck in the garage.

Hay all I have read all of your comments regarding the ranger. I have an 06 xp. I bought the polaris snow tracks took it out one time and threw 2 belts at a cost of $110 ea. Come to find out I had two broken motor mounts with only 3hrs on the unit total. My dealer took care of the mounts and replaced the belt at no charge I still am fighting for the cost of the two belts I had to purchase. I still am very pleased with the machine and lucky to have a good dealer.

#36 Got a call from Polaris. (1 800 polaris) I was advised by them he sees nothing wrong with doing a100 hour full service at 25.
It is only $300 more, and it might make your Ranger last longer?

I have been doing research on getting the new 2008 Polaris Ranger XP Stealth model with lots of extras but reading on the belt and motor mount problems as well as the interior noise,, makes me wonder if I should just keep walking thru the woods ! also the PRICE is more than I paid for my 4×4 pickup ! why are these Polaris UTV’s so doggoned expensive ? !!! and am wondering if they are really worth the troubles compared to just getting a fine mini pickup Toyota !!! any ideas? !!!!!!!!
Thanks

I have been doing lotsa research on purchasing a Ranger XP Stealth Browning Model Polaris. from what I have read so far I am wondering about the belts going bad,, the carberation going bad, the motor mounts going bad the poor service from the dealers and the extreme noise factor in the cab ! Am I just wasting my time? as the pricing for this unit is totally OUTRAGEOUS ! my 4×4 pick up didn’t cost this much !
I am wondering if i should just keep doing what I have been doing and just keep walking thru the woods ! or just maybe get a good dependable Toyota mini pickup !
Any words of wit on this ? I need all the help I can get !
Thanks !

Bought my 07 Browning Ranger in Oct . of 06 took on my deer
hunt and put on 22 hours,no problems. A lot of Rec. riding, javalina, and bear hunts and over 58 hrs. 484 miles, drive belt snapped. 76 hrs. 586 miles belt snapped again. Broken front motor mount, had it replaced and new belt. Took on bear and
elk hunt again no problems. I do all my service my self, take
care of it just like I do my truck. “GMC” Carry a spare belt, fluids and tools. Put on KClights rally 800s and up graded my tires with over 697 miles on my ranger now and still no problems. I love it, she takes me where my truck cant,$13,000 very well spent. 100% Maintance a must. A true hunting vehicle.

Bought 07 Ranger 6×6 in April 07, belt shredded in July 07, dealer would not cover even though warranty book says drive chain is covered. Belt shreds again in Jan 08, dealer says inner/outer covers damaged due to belt shredding. Outer/inner covers approx. $200, not counting belt and labor.
This machine used only on farm, not in mud or trails. Even though rated for high payloads and towing, I would be afraid to put it to the test because of the cost or belt replacement and downtime. I own a 98 Grizzly and still running original belt and have worked it hard in the past years.
No help from Polaris, they will not help and will not let you get past the receptionist at their 1-800 #.
You can buy a new car for less than I paid for my Ranger and get a 10 year warranty.
I like the ranger but have lost confidence in machine reliability very far from the house.

Bought a 2008 Polaris Ranger the day before Christmas. Had it 3 weeks before parking it in the garage. The third day of having it in the garage it caught fire completely destroying the garage and 2008 Denali parked inside. Luckily the rest of the home was spared due to quickness of the fire department. This was a 2008 Polaris Ranger Browning Special Addition. Many recalls have been posted from Polaris for the RZR and many other atv’s they make. The ECM may be the cause but they have also had trouble with leaking fuel tanks. The post investigation from the state fire inspector and insurance adjuster both determined that the Polaris was the cause of the fire. Buyer beware!!!

I am very disapointed in the communication between Polaris and their dealers and their buying public. Any public relations firm would tell Polaris Management that they are going about it in the WRONG way. Communications are non existant and it does not give you a warm and fuzzy feeling about the product once you bought it. This is ment to be constructive criticisum and to help inmprove customer relations.

I bought a 700 xp last fall, and it has aways blown hot air in from under the dash,. I also seems very fumey when the cab is zipped shut. Now, with the summer heat, it is unbearable. It also blows heat from the seat up our backs. Anyone know how to stop the dash board air from blowing heat in? I talked to some dealers to shrug their shoulders and say, “nobody else has complained of that.”

Hi all,
I’m a new owner to a used 2004 Polaris Ranger 500CC 4×4 and love the machine. I was told by a dealer that the fuel pump runs at a pressure of 40PSI +\- 3. I have a hard time believing that. Considering most I’ve come across are spec’ed out to be say 5 to 9 PSI.
Does anyone out there know the spec for this machines fuel pump part number for the 04 is 4010658. I would greatly appreciate the info.
Thanx in advance for any help you can give.

I just bought a 2008 Orange Crush Ranger 700 and took it out for a week of hard riding. After a few days I noticed that the left front tire rubs noisily against the wheel well when I go over bumps at fast speeds (also at slow speeds in rocky conditions). The dealer says everything appears to be fine and I should upgrade my suspension. Has anyone else had this issue? I hate to spend $2k to upgrade a suspension if it is a manufacturing issue.
56. John K | August 26th, 2008 at 12:11 pm
My 06 XP 700 has also had the camo turn purple, pretty embarrassing when your neighbors keep asking you about it, mine also has wheel noises at 118 hours. Kind of depressing reading this blog and the problems, sure paid enough for this thin.

I have a 2007 Ranger 700. The drive belt has flew a part twice in 200 hours. The 2nd time I was on a bridge and near got slammed into from a pick up. The first time it was out of warranty by two days and Polaris would not give a little. I like the machine but doubt if I’d get another next year.

BOUGHT A BRAND NEW POLARIS RANGER 700 XP 09′ MODEL, IN SEPT. O8. GREAT MACHINE ! RECENTLY I’VE NOTICED THAT THE RADIATOR FAN DOESN’T KICK ON, MAYBE ITS BECAUSE IT HAS BEEN COLD HERE IN WY. I USE IT ENOUGH ON MY FARM THAT I SHOULD OF NOTICED WHETHER OR NOT IT HAS BEEN WORKING. SOMETIMES I SMELL RADIATOR FLUID, MAYBE THE RADIATOR CAP?
MY 6 MONTH GUARANTEE IS JUST ABOUT UP. I WISH POLARIS WOULD LENGTHEN THE WARRANTEE ON A MACHINE THAT COST A SMALL FORTUNE!!!!!!!!!!! ANY HELP WOULD BE THANKFUL.
63. steve carroll | March 22nd, 2009 at 9:06 pm
Why doesn’t Polaris furnish a kit to cover up the purple color the camo turns? A car dealer would fix a car that the green faded to purple.

We purchased a 2009 Polaris Ranger 700 UTV.
I love this machine for doing chores around the farm - but noticed when the engine got hot you could not shift gears without turning off the machine. The dealer could not find the problem.
Then at approx. 100 miles a clicking noise started in the right rear - took it in several times and finally they replaced both rear axle assemblies. Took it home and used it for just over a month no noise then slowly now the clicking noise is back and getting louder! Anyone heard of this - the dealer is trying but I am afraid I bought a lemon.

I have a 2004 Polaris Ranger. I’m having problems with it running for maybe 1 or 2 minutes, then it shuts down like it’s not getting fuel. I have to coast to a stop and turn the key off and then it will start again easily. It runs fine while going. It does this continuously. I have replaced the fuel filter, taken the fuel tank off and cleaned it, and replaced the fuel pump ($172.00). It still does it!! Any ideas what might be causing this? Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I hate to see all the trouble you guys are having with motor mounts and belts and such. I have a ever evolving 07 XP that I haul to Colorado or Arizona from San Antonio, no place to ride here except private property. I have had the overheating interfere with the shipting where you have to turn it off to shift, was looking up 07 XP shop manuels on E-Bay I realize I may have to replace the belt but other sites talk about heavier wider belts by Dayton as well as other performance upgrades other than getting hot I just filled up with premium on a ride the other nite and my speedometer needle flashed at times (low fuel warning, also the bettery symbol flashed) will be upgrading to a dual odessey 925 set up , good luck guys, Alan

I am looking at a used 06 Ranger Browning Ed 700 tomorrow and woudl like to know how you can tell if the motor mount has been replaced? I also want to know if in this recall they had to use a different type of mount and if that required some drilling or other modification to seat it? Thanks, this woudl be my first SIde by Side so any adbvice is appreciated.

Hello, we have a 2009 HD, and was wondering if anyone has lifted the ranger with 3 inch shock mount blocks and if they are having ant problems? Going to try it with the new Legend Off Road Shocks!
Brian way easy to chang the belt, just pull off the clutch cove off and pull the belt up to spred the rear pully apart and off the front try to keep them seperated to install the new belt.
75. ed | June 28th, 2009 at 11:27 pm
You seem to be concentrating on the fuel system which you seem to have covered well. It might be the ignition system. The ignition coil may be defective. Or the electronic ignition. The next time this happens, check for spark at the plug wire before the system cools down.
76. Mark Dawson | June 29th, 2009 at 8:50 am
I have an 04 Polaris Ranger. In the last couple of months it has left me sitting several times. Seems like when I run it for a while and it gets hot the fuel pump stops working. Through trial and error I have found that pouring ice water ( or puting a bag of ice) on the pump for a couple of minutes will make it pump again. Works until it gets hot again. Big pain in the butt. Don’t trust it now on long rides.
Any ideas? Thanks

We are a group that puchased several 09 rangers the problem we are having is slop in rear ends most are just pass the six month warranty the company should have made a reversible fan blade to direct heat away in summer and into cab in winter
We have also noticed the paint peeling at the ends of tubing frame rails on all rangers.
The biggest complaint when going down hill you have to ride the brakes they should adress this issue
They are a good machine but warranty should be longer they cost as much as a car

I have a 2009 ranger browning ed. i have had the right rear drive axle replaced because of noise. I bought a plow for this and the plow kept comming off come to find out it should have had 2 collers on the mount one on each side to stop the play in the plow side to side. Accessories i ordered for the ranger the dealer said their books show they will fit WRONG!!! the new ranger 2009 has different tailgate there for needing drop down brackets for the rear bumper i waited for about 3 months for the new brackets. Polaris really needs to do something about their R&D department because what they will fit from 08 to 09 doesn’t mean it will. Also the dealer does not know this they just go by what the book says . IM really disapointed in the communication with polaris and there dealers. If their extended warranty wouldnt cost you an arm and a leg i would have purchased it . I have about 120 hours on it doing ok now but i think the front pinon seal is starting to leak not good 10 months old. i have a 99 grizzly with no problems .

07 polaris ranger, I have went through 5 belts already, checked the mounts several times to see if they were broken but all seems in place. The motor does seem to move a lot when motor is given fuel. I have ordered a carlisle belt to see if they out last polaris belts. Dealers are no help in advice on broken belts. How do I find out about this recall on mounts? Any advice on better mounts or results?
