Arizona 2006 Draw Results

For those of you who put in for that coveted Arizona tag, you have probably received your notice by now of your success or not. I know of some good elk tags and deer tags that have been drawn. Good luck. Here is some interesting information from the Ariznona Fish and Game about the draw results. The numbers are up which means it is going to get more and more difficult to draw a tag in the future.

PHOENIX – The 2006 fall big game hunt draw is complete, and applicants can now find out if they have been drawn by visiting the Arizona Game and Fish Department’s Web site at azgfd.gov.

The department received more than 256,000 applications for the draw, about 30,000 more than last year.

Game and Fish officials said that hunt permit-tags will be mailed out to successful applicants by July 28.

Any tags remaining from the draw process will be available on a first-come, first-served process. Game and Fish officials said hunters should be aware that the first-come process has been modified for fall hunts this year. The department will begin processing first-come permits on Aug. 11, starting at 8 a.m. The online application process will not be used for first-come. Applications will be accepted by mail only. Send the applications to P.O. Box 52002, Phoenix AZ 85072-2002.

The first-come permit system allows individuals to apply for any leftover big game hunt permit-tags not issued during the normal fall or spring drawing process.

The department also received 20,800 applications to purchase a bonus point, up more than 8,000 from last year.

The big game draw is a lottery-style process for allocating the limited number of Arizona big game hunting permits to applicants.

Great Photo - Wrong Caption

Heather Sanders with you Nevada Mule Deer

This awesome photo is just another great example of how effective our Desert Shadow Camouflage really is. We featured Heather Sanders and her very nice Nevada 4×6 mule deer in our August issue of Hunting Illustrated in the Hunting Forecast feature for Nevada. Unfortuantely we mixed up the caption and didn’t give Heather proper credit for her great buck.

There fore you get to see it again with the correct information. Nice job Heather!

July/August 2006 Issue of Hunting Illustrated on Newsstands July 18th

We have a great issue in store for you. It is our annual Hunting Forecast issue and we put together a pretty unique feature. Our Forecast breakdown gives you state by state information throughout the West on what to expect for the upcoming 2006 hunting season. How are the herds doing? What are the range conditions? Plus a unique “Ask Fish & Game” question and answer for each state and more.

There is no question our cover is going to get noticed. Can you believe the beautiful photo that Dan Evans captured from his 2005 Nevada archery elk hunt. This is one of the best kill shots I have come across for elk. Perfect angle, animal is set up just right, monster bull, bright blue sky, photo taken vertically, and taken from a 8 megapixel digital camera to boot. This is the first photo we have used on the cover that we have not had to expand to make it fit. If you want to see what a great kill shot of a bull elk should look like, here is an example.

We also declare the winners of our ShadowCamo photo contest. I will be making another post with the winning names and photos and all of gear they are going to receive.

What else do we have in this issue? In addition to Dan Evans’ 400-inch Nevada archery typical bull elk (potential state record), we have a state record muzzleloader bull from Utah that scores over 423 gross B&C. Last year was the year for huge typical mule deer. We have the biggest typical buck from 2005 in this issue. A monster mule deer scoring 210 3/8 net B&C taken by Jamie Gerein.

Of course there is much, much more that you will find like editor features for Mule Deer, Elk, Predators, Guns, South of the Border, North of the Border, Ask Mr. Mule Deer, Mule Deer Watch, Fresh Sign, Dueling Duo, and Nuge Factor. Plus ATV Test of the Polaris Ranger Browning Edition, stories on two other great mule deer, Wild Adventures of Tracker, Corporate Interview (Trophy Taker Inc.), Braggin’ Board and more.

Don’t miss this issue. Available on newsstands July 18th. Subscribers are starting to receive it now. Call 800-447-6897 to get your subscription of Hunting Illustrated today!

Small Town Parades

We had a great 4th of July. King’s Outdoor World ended up participating in three different parades. There is something special about small town USA. We live in and are based in a small town. There is nothing better than going to these small town parades during the Holidays. We drove our truck and trailer, passed out over 1,000 magazines, catalogs and posters and who knows how many pounds of candy along the way.

Great view of the parade in Moroni, Utah. You can see our lead four-wheeler going out and passing things out to the kids.

What better than having our own Predator Editor, Travis Osmond, standing in the back of the truck yelping out coyote distress calls along the way.
