Utah Sportsman Elk and Mule Deer Tags!
Just got some great news today. Both the Utah Sportsmans Elk and Mule Deer tag holders connected on some great animals this weekend. I am waiting to hear more about the elk, but know it was taken on the Pahvant. The big news is the Sportsmans Mule Deer tag holder just put down an incredible buck in the velvet. It is 38-inches wide and green gross scores 264 B&C. It has a 30-inch main frame with kickers shooting out. What a buck! This was a DIY hunt with family and friends. Can’t get any better than that. I am hoping to go see the buck firsthand tomorrow. I will post more details when I find out more.
More great news…both of these great animals were taken with the hunters wearing King’s Desert Shadow Camouflage. Our 2006 King’s ShadowCamo Photo Contest is going to be a good one this year.
UPDATE: Utah Sportsmans Mule Deer - I had the opporutnity to see this buck firsthand yesterday. I’ll I have to say it wow! What a great buck. The buck has been unofficially green scored at just over 264 gross. I am guessing about 4-5 inches of deductions off the typical frame. Speaking of typical frame, it doesn’t get much better than what this buck has. Sporting a 217 gross typical frame, it has mass, deep forks, huge G-4s and 26 and 27-inch main beams. The outside spread is 37-inches plus. Mark Hogan is the lucky hunter and with the help of his two sons and friends they put together a successful hunt. There is a great story to go along with this hunt.
Utah Sportsmans Elk - This tag was also filled over the weekend and a great bull has been taken. The unique thing about this great bull is once again it was taken self-guided. The bull has an extra long brow tine and early estimates put this bull hitting the 400 gross mark! Congratulations to these hunters.
