A tag holder for Bighorn Sheep just knocked down a tremendous ram. It should easily be the new Utah state record with a green score of 196. The current record was taken by Stephen Walker in 1992 and scores 186 3/8 B&C. Up until now there have only been four big horn sheep from Utah that has made the all-time Boone and Crockett record book minimum score of 180.
UPDATE: I originally posted it was the Gov. Tag Holder, but it is not. A special permit on the Ute Indian Reservation.

The rumor is true. I was on the hunt and the ram really does gross 196 B&C. It will easily be the new state record. The tag was actually not the Governer’s tag. The ram was killed on the Ute indian reservation with the Ute tag by Danny Smith IV with X-treme Outfitters and the help of Ute Tribe Outfitting. After the 60 day drying period the ram should net between 192 and 193. The ram is truly amazing. Horn lengths on the ram are 41 and 43 inches. Pictures will be available soon.

You can see pics of this ram at Boone & Crocketts website under their ‘trophy watch’ section. The pics don’t do this ram justice as he doesn’t look like mid 190’s. Some animals have that shock value and some don’t, regardless he’s one in a million!

I appologize. The ram I referred to earlier was from Montana not Utah.

There is a new ram taken from The Ute Indian Reservation fresh, that will be possible #2 ram taken, to make state books with 18 2/8 bases.
