2006 Elk Hunt Success
September 25th, 2006 David King - King's Outdoor World
We got back from our elk hunt last week and came home with a nice bull, great time with family, and hunted in beautiful country. My brother Rob drew a Book Cliffs elk tag in eastern Utah. We packed in with horses and had the whole mountain to ourselves. What a great time. Here are a few photos from our hunt.

The pack in. The area had been in a huge fire a few years ago. Now there is lush green grass.

Packed in 10 miles and made camp

Opening day we got on a pretty bull that we thought was around the 360 to 370 mark. He was surrounded by cows and satellite bulls so we backed off. Never saw him again. We ended up taking a smaller bull that ended up taking over his herd.

Nothing better than hunting with family. L-R: Alan King, Robert King, Colton King, David King

The pack out…coming home.

Rich,
The tag we had was for the roadless area. We went in on horses ten miles and made camp. we then went in an additional four miles where we shot this bull. We had the whole place to ourselves except for one day when one group came in and shot a 6×6.
