2006 Elk Hunt Success Big Hoof Buck?

New World Record Muzzleloader Mule Deer?

September 26th, 2006 David King - King's Outdoor World

Can you believe it? Our very own Hunting Illustrated South of the Border editor just knocked down a monster buck with his muzzleloader. Arnold Sandoval got lucky and drew the mule deer Super Tag for Nevada for 2006. The Super Tag allows him to hunt during all seasons statewide as long as he hunts with the appropriate weapon for that unit and season. He was planning on holding out until late November for the rut to kick in. However, he decided to go out last week with his muzzleloader. He came across a huge buck. It is a 25×27 point, 38-inches wide and green scores 304 gross! This buck still has the velvet intact and is considered a cactus buck. We will have to wait and see how this affects the eligibility for Boone & Crockett. The current world record muzzleloader non-typical mule deer was taken by Lloyd Barton in 1993 in southern Utah and scores 293 6/8 net B&C.

Stay tuned for more….and make sure you are current on your subscription to Hunting Illustrated to see awesome pics and a great story about this buck.

Congratulations Arnold and the guys at Bull Ridge Guide Service.

[…] Possible world record muzzleloader mule deer: A magnificent mule deer has been taken in Nevada with a muzzleloader. As reported earlier, this buck is a 25×27 point toad that has been green scored over 300 inches. Yes, you read correctly. The buck still has most of the velvet still intact and is a cactus buck. Not sure yet just how this will pan out in the record books. Who cares, this buck is huge. Better make sure your Hunting Illustrated Magazine subscription is still current for this buck. […]

i keep checking around to find at least one photo of this buck, but have been unsuccessful. Is it mandatory to be subscribed to hunting illustrated magazine to be able to view this hog?

Has anyone heard anything about the big mule deer buck killed in northern California? Supposedly it is going to be the new state record (over 210″).

I have seen the photo, and it is unbelievable. They are right when they say cactus buck. If you live near Elko, and you know where Taylor Canyon bar is, they will be more than happy to show you the pic.
