Score Is In…New NT Muzzleloader Record Elk

December 7th, 2006 David King - King's Outdoor World

The official scores are coming in and Utah has another record broken in 2006. As I posted earlier, Greg Holman smoked a pending state record non-typical muzzleloader bull elk. The bull has now been officially scored at 422 4/8 gross and 403 2/8 net B&C.

That puts the bull #1 for Utah and #4 in the world. That’s big. Furthermore, you have to put in the “what if” factor on this monster elk. The right third tine is broken, losing a good 10-plus inches off the typical frame. That could have put him in the seriously monster class.

We’ll see if Greg’s bull can hold on to the record longer than a year. That is how long the previous record held. Zane Bassett’s massive bull from 2005 scored 423 7/8 gross and 392 6/8 net non-typical.

Congratulations Greg!
