Video of the New Polaris Ranger RZR Razor 800
February 2nd, 2007 David King - King's Outdoor World
I made an earlier post with some photos of the new
Polaris RZR Razor 800 a couple of weeks ago. People are definitely interested in this hot new side by side. I haven’t had a chance to ride one yet, but talking to people who have, they are pretty excited about it. Definitely more sporty than anything else, but is limited on the utility side. It will be interesting to see how the hunting crowd responds to this machine.
It looks like I may get a chance to ride it next month. So in the meantime, I have found some video to get you by until I can get my own to post on here. This video was taken in mid January in Arizona at the Polaris debut of the RZR 800.
Here is a quote from someone who was down there and personally had a chance to ride one in the harsh southwest desert:
“Hey, that thing is a blast. Its 100lbs. lighter than a Rhino and has 30% more horsepower. It’s 4.5” narrower than a Rhino with a very low center of gravity. I tried real hard to break it but could not. The after market guys will have a ball with this thing, however, I wonder about its hunting application. In order to get this thing classified as an ATV, they had to limit the cargo space. As a result, the bed is very small. There will be an after market rail extension that will increase the size of the cargo area, but I just don’t know if it will be enough for the hunter.
The RZR has sand dunes written all over it. I would love to slap a set of paddles on it and scream up Big Sand Mountain. I’m sure Polaris will sell a boatload of them. It will retail at $9999.”

I’m a hunting blogger too. Like all of us, I am too poor to buy a new one, will wait for a good used one.
Enjoyed your blog and the pic of the lady hunter (huntress?)
keep it going.

OK look people no matter what you say about thiis new RZR ……………. IT IS STILL A POLARIS
3. moto tyson | February 9th, 2007 at 12:42 pm
OK look people no matter what you say it is still a polaris the RZR is no comparison to the rhino… Your telling me that my grandma and grandpa are going to feel comfy in the rzr NOT but good try people what about my elk i shoot were am i going to put it in the passengers lap i think not.. granted the polaris looks cool and good for the 25 year old but not a working man sorry you cant copmpare the 2 units not in the same class if u ask me
4. Robbie | February 14th, 2007 at 3:35 pm
A rzr may not have the utility of a rhino, but your rhino has nowhere near the utility of my regular ranger…
5. John | February 15th, 2007 at 1:10 pm
So your saying if I want to have a good rig for hunting I will have to buy a regular old ranger and if I want to go fast and have some fun I’ll need to purchase the new little ranger rzr?
I own one Rhino that does it all!
6. Tim | February 16th, 2007 at 5:29 pm
Easy fellas…different strokes for different folks. Not everyone is the same…that is why there are different makes and models and manufacturers to choose from. Personally, I like the RZR and I’m going to get me one!
7. irockcamaro | February 17th, 2007 at 11:14 am
You show me a rino that will go fast hahaha. The RZR has it all sport and utility. I live in nova scotia there is no 500 pound deer around here. A big deer here is maybe 280 pounds the RZR is perfect for me.
8. Devin | February 18th, 2007 at 7:50 pm
Ok people the rhino does not own the mountain. The rhino has it’s ups and downs but does not compare to the ranger. The ranger has EFI, bigger engie size, more hauling capacity and box room and can also take three people to one spot instead of two. I’m getting one of these RZR’s and i can still put an elk or deer in the back. So people who own a rhino don’t be getting too cocky.
9. Devin Bult | February 18th, 2007 at 8:10 pm
Ok people, the rhino is not the king of the mountain. The rhino could use a little bit more than a tune up. The rhino can’t be compared to the ranger. The ranger can carry three people, it has EFI, bigger carrying capacity, and a bigger tow load. The Ranger RZR is pretty nice and I’m getting myself one of these. You might have to improvise for hauling your elk or deer, but still it has EFI which overall beats the rhino.
10. Nate Thomas | February 19th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
The problem is if you connot put a back seat in the RZR then you will not take the rhinos buisness. These are suppose to be the sport model and the people who want the sport model go to the dessert and they want something they call hall there kids in so they don,t have to spend 80,000 dollars on a four seater rail. Thats why people are buying the rhinos. Good Idea but don’t think its going to work.
11. evan | February 21st, 2007 at 3:01 pm
i own a rhino and that is perfect for me it is the right size and it cal haul a 700 hundred pound bear and not even weaken a bit this new razor is for flat land not for mud and water or even hauling and the old polaris ranger cant fit through four-wheeler trails and the rhino can
12. Charles Minor | February 23rd, 2007 at 10:36 am
Alright I don’t have a rhino but alot of my friends do so I’ve been able to drive them and ride in them , I live in southwestern Pennsylvania the trials a tight and trickie alot of hill climbing I do own a polaris 700 2006 it will go any where and more place then the any other ATV just last week a rhino couldn’t make it up a hill a pulled it clear to the top it was not a good day for my rhino buddies I will have myself a razor no doubt!!!!!!
13. bert price | February 23rd, 2007 at 7:06 pm
I do like this RZR because it will fit on the trails that are already established for four wheelers. The Ranger that I have will not fit most of these trails! The down side to the RZR is that I do alot of hunting and I don’t see this being very practical for that sport. And the accesories for the Rangers are too expensive for the common working man to afford. That is where the Rhino will beat them.
Thanks for listening to the voice of a mad man!!!
14. Rzr | February 24th, 2007 at 9:09 pm
Both the rhino and rzr are groundbreaking machines worthy of buying sight unseen in November of ‘04 and now spring of ‘07. I have had a lot of fun on our rhino and still will; yet the possibilities for the same and even MORE on this machine are like night and day.
15. Thom | February 27th, 2007 at 11:33 pm
my 2 cents..if uw ant the best utility ranger, best sport RZR, best mix of both sport and utility rhino. ..they all compare but they are just speced out for different, u can make ur rhino into a rzr eater..
16. Les Orosz | March 1st, 2007 at 11:33 am
I saw this new rzr on tv. last night it, it reminded me of a small dune buggy, I currently have 3 rhino’s that are all set up for hunting, I use them all the time on land that I own which has lots of hills, they are much better than the ranger, for that kind of use. however I like my friends ranger when on farm land, it hauls more and caries more passangers, the rhino can actully go on allot of the trails for hunting in Colorado, but not all of them. the new rzr will be able to go on all the trails and the rzr has much more power than either of the two and it will be able to climb steeper hills, my understanding is it will go 65 mph not that I would want to go that fast but i could see people in some parts of the country that would. Look how fast some snowmobiles fo 100 + also in my state of Wisconsin, Rhino’s are even to wide for state tarils to be used Where the rzr would qualifiy, so I will be buying one of these machines as soon as they are available, hopefully soon.

I did a three day demo on a Rhino here in Idaho, I like some things about it but it seemed to me too be cheaply made. Had too many squeaks and rattles for me. The demo Rhino had over a thousand miles on it and probably had been abused. I can’t honestly say if it had been or not, but nothing about the Rhino seemed tough but I do think Yamaha makes excellent products especailly their Outboard Mootors.I have had Yamaha ATV”S in the past and have been pleased with their performance. I also demoed the Ranger XP and that is the machine I purchased I have been very happy with. It has been bullet proof so far and I have recently put a deposit down on the new Razor. The reviews have all been positive and I understand this machine has been in the works for over two years.
18. avery Williams | March 4th, 2007 at 7:58 pm
I just got through wipping the crap out of a pair of rhinos with my 05 ranger 500 . Through the mountains and dessert, small trails and big. I could not fit a shot gun in the bed of a rhino so I originaly bought the ranger for the space. I think I might buy the new 800 mainly due to the mileage I cover. By the way I hear they are testing a new Ranger with the 05 -07 body but using the 800 motor near Lake Havasu proving grounds. The Rhino will climb comp hill in Glamis while the ranger won’t ,neither will the prowler. I guess the Yamaha’s are good for sand! But they are all very fun!
19. Paul Hatton | March 5th, 2007 at 5:02 pm
To me, a long time fan of dune riding, the RZR is a sure bet. My only concern will be wether or not Polaris will offer a low payment financing plan like the four majors. Their current offers are low interest loans for 72 months, but with financing an RZR at 10k that would be around $170 a month.
20. benhur | March 5th, 2007 at 6:03 pm
This new machine seems to fit into an area that other side by sides have not ( accessability to majority of established trails, excellent level of power and moderate hauling capabilities). I can’t wait to try one of these units for my family. it sounds like a perfect machine to replace my wifes’ current utility machine for one with a lot more fun factor.
21. Chris Bowles | March 6th, 2007 at 7:28 pm
The RZR is great, but I will put my custom 2006 browning edition against any and all side by sides including the rhino. I’ve upgraded the performance, lifted it, applied every extreme body protection tHat polaris has designed along with stereo… I just got back from Moab and I did metal masher (4D) mostly in 2-wheel drive. No problem.
22. Adam | March 8th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
I’ve owned my Rhino for over 2 years now…I love it and have had a lot of fun with it. With a skilled driver, it will go most anywhere. Here in Arkansas I encounter many Rhino’s on the trail…very few Rangers, due mostly In my opinion to the width and bulkiness. I spotted the RZR by accident about 3 weeks ago and immediately put my deposit down on one. My Rhino has been good to me…but the RZR looks way too fun to pass up. About six weeks to go and I guess we’ll find out!
23. Jimmy | March 11th, 2007 at 6:58 pm
How does this type vehicle handle over 16″ of powder??
24. cameron | March 12th, 2007 at 7:54 pm
the new rzr will never be able to beat the regular rnager for storage but its worth it i just traded my 6×6 ranger for it and for the people that are worried about not being able to have enough room for there elk or deer well thats why it has 1500 lbs of towing hook up a trailer
25. Kevin | March 16th, 2007 at 1:14 pm
I have been lucky enough to get an early bird model of the ranger rzr. it hauls, it climbs rocks, mossy hillsides, goes through 4 foot muskeg holes without rippin on it, im 240 and my buddy is 230 it is awsome. 2 feet of snow… no problem. the father in law, 10 buddies, and the girl guides have a rhino. enough said about the rhino. the rzr simply blows away the rhino. as for towing 1500 lbs at the hitch, buy a 1000 dollar trailer instead of 10000 dollars in upgrades to make your rhino go places the rzr will go stock
26. elmer legrey | March 16th, 2007 at 5:36 pm
the RZR looks to me just what ive been wanting. a smaller vehicle for 2 guys, side by side to get back in the woods of northern wisconsin. the rhino and the full size polaris ranger are just too big going through the woods off trail. i will be abe now to follow the same trails made by my yamaha 450 kodiak. will see my dealer and order one as soon as i get back north from florida this late spring.
27. Tim koshollek | March 22nd, 2007 at 11:30 am
In my opinion the Ranger XP 700 or 500 should ALWAYS remain the Ranger. The RZR is a different vehicle all together. To me its a fast fun ATV period. I have the 2007 Browning Edition 700 XP. This thing is an animal for work and hunting. The Rhino doesnt compare to the Ranger XP 700 either. Ive never had problems on the trails in Wisconsins national forest with the XP 700. It climbs over the swamp, hills and what ever else you can throw at it and with a full load on as well. The other advantage is the Ranger XP is not considered an ATV. In my part of the state you can put a red slow moving vehicle placard and go down the side of the country roads. The XP 700 is a hunter and a worker. Keeping up with food plots, moving tree stands or hunt camps or tree cutting and fire wood collecting will not be the same on the RZR. POLARIS LEAVE THE ORIGINAL RANGER ALONE!
28. Steve Walling | March 22nd, 2007 at 8:39 pm
I am real close to buying a polaris ranger XP and was checking one out today . because I live in Alaska I want to have the polaris track system so I can do year round riding . After reading a report on the new polaris rzr today I have decided to wait a little longer . I do love to hunt and the one thing I have been waiting for polaris to do is install the park gear in the tranny like the sportsman has . well now they have , the only thing better is that they now have the 800 engine . Now if they would do the same with the ranger XP it would be great . If not I may be buying a rzr.
29. todd | March 23rd, 2007 at 1:58 pm
own a kubota rtv for hard work and just sold my trail riding rhino .it wil be replaced by a rzr as soon as they are available here.
30. Bill Moore | March 24th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
I own a Polaris 400 atv now as well as a Recreative ind. MAX II
6Wheel amphibious vehicle. I have test driven the Ranger XP and
loved it. Today I dropped in on Kings web page and saw the Razor,
WOW !! I love it! The 50in. wheel base is what I need along with the
800 engine ! Good job Polaris ! I live in Oregon and hunt here and when I can I hunt in southern Arizona and Northeastern Idaho. I mainly bow hunt so, getting myself and a buddy along with our stands, blinds and gear in one atv is my dream. I think the razor will
be my answer. I will sell both of my rigs to get one !
The question is : WHEN CAN I GET MY HANDS ON ONE ?
31. Derek | March 26th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
have read alot about the rzr but can anyone tell me about holdback.some very steep terrain on the trails i ride.does polaris use it’s e.b.s. on this machine?

33. Justin | April 3rd, 2007 at 3:51 pm
Oh, I forgot that the stage 1 supercharger kit for the 660 rhinos are only $4,200, HA HA HA, That’s about half of what the RzR costs, plus aftermarket companies are already making a cdi box for the RzR to add 10-15 mph to the top speed.
34. jesse | April 4th, 2007 at 11:41 pm
i have a ranger for work,a kfx 700 for play, and now i will get the rzr for taken out the ol lady or who ever else wants to go play.
35. GJ | April 7th, 2007 at 10:10 am
I don’t own yet, but plan on buying the RZR. A stock RZR appears that it will crush the modified Rhino. Even if the stock version doesn’t totally crush the Rhino, then the MODIFIED RZR will. My question is where is Honda’s offering to the side x side market?
36. Justin | April 7th, 2007 at 12:30 pm
The new RzR is listed at 52hp and the rhino 660 with the stage1 supercharger kit is also listed at 52hp. So I’m buying a RzR!
37. rhino4lyssa | April 17th, 2007 at 8:45 pm
now did I see irockcamaro say he never saw a fast rhino. I have my rhino reaching speeds of 65 to 68 mph. Yes a little mod work here and there of course. But with a four seater cage and bench in the bed It makes for a pretty great family weekend at Glamis dunes, Dumont dunes, El Mirage, or even Stoddard wells . I can seat 4 adults in my Rhino with average weight of say 175 and still pull Oldsmobile hill in Glamis at 35 mph. Sorry RZR. Oh by the way Its IROC. Not K. International Race Of Champions
38. family rhino | April 17th, 2007 at 8:54 pm
I have my rhino at 52 mph without a stage 1 supercharger kit. BRP CDI box, pipe ,and filter. out of pocket $368.12. Supercharger kit, average price $4000.00.
39. GJ | April 18th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
“I have my rhino reaching speeds of 65 to 68 mph. ” and it’s probably modified to the MAX. the STOCK RZR is said to do nearly 60 mph out of the box. RZR lower center of gravity with similar clearence. There is no doubt in my mine that Rhino owners will change to the RZR after I/we crush your rhino on the trails.
Where is Honda’s offering to the side x side market.
GJ
40. rhino4lyssa | April 21st, 2007 at 4:24 pm
Hey GJ you reach 65-68, your Rhino is not even close to being modified to the MAX. I have only bolt on performance upgrades pipe, cdi ect….. and I hit 65-68. Try boring it to say a 770cc piston and putting a Kehin FCR superbike carb (the Edlebrock is crap)on it like a friend of mine at Howard and sons in Phelan,Ca He is reaching 80-85. with great great tourque. and it seats 4 average sized adults. Yes of course you have to upgrade. but who’s leaving a RZR stock. RZR $10,000 will only seats 2. Rhino $11,900 possibility to seat 4. To each his own. we all want something different.
41. GJ | April 26th, 2007 at 12:11 pm
I am not a speed demon and my terrain of choice will be “rock crawlin”, since I live in Colorado. When crawlin low center of gravity with good gound clearance is the key. I used to be a jeeper, but couldn’t afford the high cost of repairs on my daily driver/off road jeep. I am also told that the larger UTV’s(Rhino,Ranger, etc) are too wide and are not permitted on some trails. The capability of seating four, better payload, are the main reasons I can see to buying a large UTV. You can bore your you Rhino out to a 770cc, or just buy a 800 EFI RZR. Let’s continue this conversation when the RZR gets trail time against in larger UTV’s>let’s say 1-2years. I have a feeling Honda will come out with an insane Sport UTV in the next couple of years, that may completely change the playing field.
GJ
42. SP | April 26th, 2007 at 5:26 pm
Its good to see that not everyone likes the same thing. This means when the RZR comes out there will be a Rhino and an RZR lined up next to each other on a trail or dune. Who ever loses will go home and spend money to make his go faster. This will make the other manufactures who are sitting on the fence finally wake up and see that there is a market for these types of vehicles and maybe they will finally step up and make one. I am tired of waiting for Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki to man up and make something. So I am thanking all the rhino owners and all the new rzr owners and ranger owners and saying keep it real brothers because no matter what it is at least you have one. And for Kawi, Honda and Suzuki—- If your not going to put something up soon,,,,just forget it……….
43. Paul huggins | May 1st, 2007 at 9:41 pm
I have done extensive research and i am very excited to buy a machine. I want a razor but I wont buy one without knowing if my six foot six inch body will fit. The ranger was very cramped.
44. daman | May 3rd, 2007 at 7:58 am
the RZR is one of the baddest machines ever made!!! The Dana transmission is tough and the 4 WD lets the machine go anywhere. This vehicle is trail rated and can go anywhere a ATV goes. The Rhino looks like a golf car on steroids…that is what yamaha did…they converted their golf car frame into a side x side…with a raptor motor…it is to bad Polaris named this the Ranger RZR it is not a Rnager at all it is in a class all itself…it is a RZR…dealers will not be able to keep these things in stock.
45. Go Rzr | May 9th, 2007 at 4:05 pm
Yea, the rhinos are good if you are a workahaulic. The thing is, the Rzr is built for play right out of the box. If you want to make it work, it has the power for that, while still being able to go on the ATV trails. With the power behind your back seat, the Rzr looks really good. I don’t do alot of hunting or working. Right now I have a gator, and that works. I want something with a little more umph. That is what the 2008 Rzr is for, and why I am getting one.
46. Jason Morris | May 12th, 2007 at 7:34 pm
I’ve been hunting the nothern wilderness of canada all my life and noone would dream off taking a rhino or a ranger into the bush for a 1000 lb moose. The utility style vehicles are too clumsy and too wide to manuever in the real bush, and they are far too heavy to traverse a thousand yards of muskeg. We have always used quads to do our hunting and you can’t throw a moose on the back of that either. So what do you do? Gey a trailer that’s what you do. And if I have to pull a trailer I would rather have my buddy sitting next to me than breathing down the back of my neck. The new RZR has the power, towing capacity (1500 lbs)and the 2 passenger capability that I am looking for in an ATV, hopefully it has the agility that I am looking for. I’m not a salesman or a polris die hard, but the configuration of the RZR is very appealling to me and I for one am going to give it a shot.

i am a Polaris 500 fan BIG TIME. i have had my 1996 model sense NEW,It has 11246.8 miles on it, and still running grate. i run a 1280 acre WORKING Exotic Deer Ranch in the hart of the Hll Country. i have over 30 miles of roads and trails on it. i can’t tell you how much driving we do, that is not even close to a road or trail, and that is what i call rock Crawling. we can put a Quad through the paces, out here. i am 6′3′’ 250 lbs. i carry some big DEER on the front or back of my Quad, out of Places you can’t get the 6×6 ranger. i would love to have one of the RZR’S out here to test, and just see if it can hold up to what we do out here on the Ranch. IF Polaris wants a real working TEST? Give me a call
48. TGeeter | May 19th, 2007 at 8:24 pm
I got my rzr a week ago and its all that and some. According to Polaris’ I am the first retail customer to have this honor. It’s fast and agile. Hope all will enjoy as much as I have. I currently own a yamaha, 2 polaris, 3 can am atv’s. The rzr is in a class by itself. Its not fair to compare rhino’s and ranger because its totally different.
49. Matt | May 23rd, 2007 at 8:31 pm
I ordered a RZR Ranger. It should be in next month, They are very hard to get and my dealer said he is only getting in three this year. I had to put a thousand down 2 months ago just to get mine next month. I cant wait until i get the call that it is in!
50. Rene | June 3rd, 2007 at 10:38 pm
Hi fellows, I have seen the RZR and would like to buy one, but as many of you have experience, all made are already sold. My problem is I am 1.95m tall and need to get into one in order to see if I’ll fit. Do some of you know what would be the maximum height someone can fit on the RZR? I’ll appreciate your input. thanks,
51. MMM | June 7th, 2007 at 9:04 pm
I think that it looks cool but i have to say that we have made our Rhinos go lots more places than our friends with quads. it has fit through every trail and hauled plenty out of places that others can’t. To each there own but i think that there are good and bad qualities to both. Rhino can have 4 people and Razor only 2. You say that a Rhino is a family mobile but i disagree. We have had more fun than anyone we know. We have taken it through some rough stuff and i have to say that its performance has been awesome. Its not always about speed, to me performance is how you drive it.
52. Jeanette | June 10th, 2007 at 11:53 pm
I am getting my Razor tommarrow. I can’t wait. I just go out and play and have been in tight spots with my ranger, and I get right threw them. I have had quads, go on trails with me. The ranger out does them. I can’t wait to take my razor and show them up even more. I’ll let you know how it goes.
53. STUART | June 20th, 2007 at 12:29 am
WENT TO SEE A RHINO, ENDED UP LOOKING AT THE POLARIS RZR……….WOW, SOON AS I SAW IT I KNEW IT WAS THE MACHINE FOR ME. LOOKS WELL BUILT AND WELL ENGINEERED. RHINO LOOKS CHEAPLY MADE AND I WORK TOO HARD FOR MY MONEY TO SPEND IT ON SOMETHING CHEAP. YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE, GET THE GOOD STUFF.
54. dhgchfhch | June 21st, 2007 at 1:42 pm
If your doing work get a Ranger. If you want something to play on get the RZR. A Rhino is pretty much in between work and play. But if you want something to pull a trailer or any heavy duty work like that you want the Ranger. It has the width you need. A RZR or a Rhino is basically ment for the sand dunes. A Rhino is more capable at going off road and in the mud than a Ranger and is a lot more capable than the RZR in the mud. But the Rhino and RZR are more of toys.
55. IRRELEVANT | June 21st, 2007 at 3:03 pm
I’VE BEEN TRYING TO SEE IF THERE WILL BE AN AFTERMARKET CAGE THAT WILL SEAT 3 OR PREFERABLY 4, I’D LIKE TO GET THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS, BECAUSE AS MUCH AS I LOVE PERFORMANCE I HAVE TO TAKE MY KIDS ALONG FOR A PUT. UNTILL I SEE THE CAGE THE DEAL IS NOT SEALED ON THE RAZOR BECAUSE I KNOW NOW YAMAHA IS BOUND TO MAKE IMPROVEMENTS TO THE RHINO WHEN BEFORE THEY DID NOT NEED TO WITH NO REAL COMPETITION.
56. Bill Proseus | June 21st, 2007 at 4:38 pm
The things I like the most about the rzr is the width, cupholders, and the 800 powerplant. Lets face it access is uncomparible.I’m not saying the rhino or anything else is worthless, but what good are they to a hunter or the trailrider, unless you have your own land where you can make your own trails to your desired width. The cupholders are what sold me.what could be better than cruisin through the woods drinkin a brusky.I test drove one and the power is great, but i don’t know why these companies keep foolin around by jumpin the cc’s up a little at a time, they should just get it done with and put a 1000 in them.I think the companies up the cc’s year by year so people will trade there machine in every time something bigger comes out.If they were to go all out then there would’nt be anything to bring us back to the showroom.

I have a deposit on a rzr
Im wondering if low range will hold back on steep ground?
58. MLH | July 26th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
I live in Canada and unfortunatly must buy a machine that is good for hunting/playing and maintaining an acrege(pushing lots of snow, pulling a trainer etc.) Has anyone had experience with the ranger 700 or Rhino useing a plow? Should I just buy a tractor with a snow blower instead:(
59. triple og og | July 31st, 2007 at 3:22 pm
Do all yourselfs a favor and buy an arctic cat prowler. It has the highest top speed,Most ground clearance, not cramped like a rhino, and comes in EFI and non EFI.
60. Jon Coleman | August 1st, 2007 at 2:25 pm
I own the rzr. It in no way compares to the Rhino,Ranger,Prowler,Kubota, or Gator. You can take them all in stock form and test them all together in Power, Hauling, Towing, Speed, Maneuverability, and Agility. The rzr out performs them all. the rzr will out do most any conventional four wheeler in the mud flats, ditch crossings, hill climbing, and trail riding. We have an atv club and I have made the whole area a believer. e-mail me with any questions. I have answers.

Well, Hunting season is three weeks out of 52 and around here deer are 150 pounds. Trails are tight and usually steep with all sorts of obsticles.
I had my money for a Rhino and then I saw the Ranger RZR, took it for a ride with the wife.
We don’t need speed but we do need and want versatility for 52 weeks per year and according to my passenger the ranger RZR blows the rhino right clear out of the running. Comfort, easy of handeling, size, center of gravity and all the accessories make the Razor the one for us.
I have had 2 Sportsman 500s and loved both so the Polaris name and quality is not an issue here.
Rhino would be my second choice but there is simply no way Rhino could win in any catagory except heavy onboard carrying, what, for once per hunting season?

My son works at a large motorcycle dealership here in Texas,They sell both Yamaha’s and Polaris UTV’s. And as in the past with Polaris the dependablity is a serious issue , I personaly looked at the service yard and noticed that nine out of ten unit’s that were broke down were Polaris’s. And the sales manager told me that they sell three to one more Rhino’s than Rangers. So that was enough to convince me not to purchase a Razor, I want to ride mine not wait for service, All my buddies that have had Polaris’s in the past feel the same way I do on reliability! .Concider buying Two RZR’s so you can have a spare, you’ll need it.

RZR has the lowest center of gravity! When navigating through a depth of two feet or more of mud and water are you sitting in muck? My ATV would go and I would not get soaking wet. Anybody know how it dose in flooded timber?

68. Jimmyz | September 24th, 2007 at 11:19 pm
This machine is awesome and it hauls butt and rails the corners , It flys very neutral in the air and loves to double and would triple if my brain would, People say its loud but I love it …Sounds like a trophy truck to me and sreams fast…..
I wish the big three would get in the race sooner as I am sure they will but there will be alot of razors out there representing alot of lost revenue for them.
Has’nt broke yet and should have with the abuse we hand out to it and has’nt even started to squeaked yet ?
There will be better but not yet , Jimmyz ( holeshotting you ! )

I found out today from POLARIS the front end gears is a known defect and POLARIS has a fix. The bad part is POLARIS don’t know how long it will be before my dealer can get the parts so they can fix it. Again be carefull on the jumps!

I have a chipped, clutched, snorkeled rhino sport. ‘Goes anywhere my ‘06 rubicon would- in a sick amount of increased comfort and confidence. Slower top speed on the climbs though. Everyone has their own list of “must haves” when picking out their ideal off road vehicle. For those of us who have a third (or 4th) passenger and/ or want a big dump-bed the razr is a non-option. Not comparable-
It’s a 2-seat dune buggy, so to speak. Not for utility- unless you want to leave the horses home and go play “brokeback mtn” with your buddy. To each his own.

i do wonder why dont any of the makers give these things a bigger set of tires and a little more lift so you dont have to go do this stuff as soon as you get one they all look wimpy with those stock tires! what do you guys think? one more thing how about a after market bow rack for recurves longbow and compounds! for these side by sides.

i have had my razor for 4 months, went to an atv park once and trashed my front diff and the tilt wheel is not working, but my buddy rolled it at 45mph and kept going, just cost 265.00 to replace rear rollbar that compressed about 2 inches, other than the time it takes for parts to come in, I love it and all my friends are envious, someone plz make some cheap aftermarket plastic!!!!!!!!
73. Chris | October 5th, 2007 at 5:44 pm
I think that all the UTV’s out there have there place, A rhino is a bit better for trail riding than a ranger but the ranger is undoubtably better at work than the rhino. They all have there place, i bought a rzr because i trail ride i dont use it for work or hunting, the rzr is perfect for me and my wife to have fun on the local atv trails. But to each his own my friends

just bought a rzr, only problem with it is i keep eating bugs because i cant stop smiling. put 250 mi on it in 2 days and out climbed and mudded my buddies 4×4 quads. tried but cant roll it or break it in the least. 58 mph bone stock. i def think its worth the money, and 2 grand cheaper than a rhino. ps u can turn up the preload on the shocks to haul more weight or just lift the ride height a bit
76. Luke | October 23rd, 2007 at 7:50 pm
I have purchased the 08 rzr and have never had so much fun on a 4 wheeler. We put 120 miles on in 1 day, it rides better than any 4 wheeler I have ever owned. I can’t wait to see all the aftermarket parts they will come out with. We are going to buy another one for my Wife so she can take our kid with her.

I’ve had my RZR for about a month. It’s a blast, I’ve installed turn signals, a 3500 lb winch, reinforced the hitch, added a soft top, a sport windshield. I have a small 4X6 trailer to pull behind it and it handles it great. I have hauled sand in it at the max weight and am pleased with the performance. A great machine.

I was waiting for Honda’s contribution, what a disappointment. The “Big Red” looks like a big red piece of crap.

I bought my RZR sight unseen 8/9/07 and didn’t know if it would do what I needed it to. I now have over 700 miles on my RZR. From our cabin on the Flat Tops of Colorado to the sand in Utah, it rages through everything I point it at. I have taken it on the most extreme conditions. From serious rock crawling to fording the Dolores River to being chained up at 10,000 feet in 16 inches of snow. I sometimes need more cargo space so I throw the lighter stuff in duffel bags, strap them on the roof and I am gone. I wondered about the need for breaking while going down hills but Polaris has figured that problem out I never touch them even on the steepest grades. I figured the Windshield out by using 10” on top and 10” in the middle with a full one in the back. One other thing is that it has been very dependable even after flogging it hard ride after ride. I am looking forward to getting some doors and a heater for all year round adventure. I also am looking for some fender flairs. That’s one thing about the big tire kit. We just can’t stop grinning. Well that’s my two cents worth or I guess I should say $12,000 worth. O Ya my wife comes with me now and she rails like a mad woman. She is ready for a new one. Hope to get some video for you guys and gals to watch soon!

Has anyone tried using the RZR for Snow plowing?
83. LH | December 28th, 2007 at 3:54 pm
So everybodoy loves to trail ride fast and hard. What about us “Grandmas & Grandpas” that can’t handle straddling the gas tank anymore and just want something seated side-by-side to
“road tootle” in the woods, but also needs to be able to do at least 45 mph for traveling paved roads to get to the woods? The RZR sounds like the perfect idea, but is spendy and possibly more than we need.

I bought the RZR and have put the track system on it and am having a ball playing in the snow. It could use a bit more power, has anyone had any luck with the new pipe from Dragon Fire and is it much louder then stock?
85. jamie | March 28th, 2008 at 11:22 am
I have a Ranger,a razor and a Rhino. All 3 are less than 1 year old. All 3 are completly stock other than tires and wheels. Out of the 3 the RANGER beat the razor and rhino in every catagory. Speed, payload, towing, 4 wheeling ,mudding, you name it.I like them all but the ranger hands down by far is the all around better of the 3 machines.

I purchased a Razor in Sept 2008. My second trip out it quit running. The motor would turn over but would not start. After pulling the rear cargo box we noticed the grommit (may not be the correct name ) between the air cleaner and the throttle body was off. We checked fuel and spark and it still would not start. We hauled it home, power washed it and still couldn’t get it to started . We pulled the air cleaner out and then took it to the dealer. I told the dealer that the grommet was off and that we had power washed it plus removed the air cleaner when we were looking for the problem.. After one week the service man called to tell me there was sand and water in the cylinders and I told him it was probably because the grommet had come off while we were riding. He accused me of susmering the machine under water. I assured him I had not. He accused me of lieing. From there the conversation began to go down hill. My question to him was “How did the sand get thro the filter?” The water was possibly from the power washing. I ask the dealer to call Polaris and he told me to call Polaris myself. I ask him for the phone number. He gave me two wrong numbers. I called back and talked to another employee and got a better number, one where the phone at least would ring. However, all efforts to contact Polaris lead to a dead end. After 27days and $928.00 I picked up the Razor. I’m still very unhappy. This may not have been a warranty item but I feel this should have been checked before the machine was delivered to me. Or is this a problem on other machines? Is the grommet going to come off again? The grommet is not easy to see without removing the back of the cargo rack.
If anyone has had this problem, please comment. Thanks.
