Hi, I live in central Ohio and have found 4 sheds up until March 17th. On March 17th I found a pair of sheds that score in the 170's. they have 27" main beams. If spread was 22", it would make them score in the 190's. This is what makes all the walking worthwhile.

To the person asking about preferrable "shedding locations" - to my knowledge antlers are shed randomly based on hormonal changes causing the antlers to detach, however a buck's pattern changes in the winter months, so if you have been seeing certain bucks regularly in the winter months...I'd start searching there- I have also discovered that I find either all large or all small sheds in close range of each other-rarely a mix, which leads me to question if large bucks and small bucks disperse their ranges in winter months??? So far in Wisconsin, I have found 5 sheds...including an 18 in. main beamed fork and a 60 in. four point!!!!

I have just started hunting for shed antlers. I live in Northern Virginia and want to start. When is the best time to find the sheds and is there a good place to find them ie. around creeks, around old rub sites. Or do they just come off were the fall.
