I have been hunting my whole life and I agree with both sides. I do think that hunting is becoming a rich mans sport, but at the same time I think that with out there money we would lose hunting to all the animal rights groups and tree huggers. My best deer only scores 158 and my best elk 259 and I am as proud of these animals as any of these high dollar hunters, and I have always hunted public lands.

after a lot of thinking about this. the nevada governors tag was alot of money to pay for a elk tag. and at first i was mad at the guy who had bought it.but i can sit back and enjoy my elk hunt this year like i have enjoyed my elk hunts for the past 5 years.sure i would love to hunt in my own state of nevada but i havent drawn a tag this year. so i must use what i think are the worlds best guilds i.e my good friends in idaho. to help me on this years hunt and it will only cost me gas to get up there.so if you must spend a ton of money for a hunt of a life time go for it. cause i will have a hunt of the life time every year!

The real story about this animal is out there. There was a little back stabing done by the outfitterr that guided the hunter to the bull.If not for Doyle Moss and his gang Mark Lane would not have had a clue were the animal was at.Graet bull just the wrong way to make an extra buck on an already expensive hunt.

Guys like Randy, are the ones that are going to make it impossible for the everyday guy to go hunting year in and year out... I enjoy every second that I'm out in Gods country, but it gets harder and harder every year to go out and spend enough time outdoors. It worries me that when my son is old enough there won't be any public places to hunt that give even a slim chance at a nice buck or bull. Let's quit lying to ourselves, we all want a "trophy" animal, but we still enjoy the time we get even if we don't kill that monster every time. It would just be nice to know that I don't have to wait 14+ years to draw a tag in Utah, or pay 15,000 for a tag to do what is considered my God given right. Randy is probably a great guy, but I don't want to hear about all his trophy's he kills every year, put something in here about the real guys who work there butts off all year to spend a couple of week ends out each season, the ones that can't sleep for a month before opening morning, and put on more miles than they should in an entire month, just to get a shot at something. And that is why my wife hates this time of year!

Work as hard as you can on your hunt and be happy with the trophy you take. Big money hunters can do it every year and it dosent mean as much to them as it does to the average hunter. The average guy can still go out and take a trophy animal, you just have to work for it.

I am tired of people complaing about not haveing the money to go on hunts. Each hunt is what you make of it. You dont need to kill the biggest animal to show that you know how to hunt.
Hunting is all about the challenge and getting back to nature a little.

If you dont have enough money to go on an elk hunt then challenge yourself and go on a rabbit hunt with a bow. when you finnaly get something it is just as rewarding as shooting a big elk, challenge yourself and when you succed it should not matter the size or species of animal.
Everyone needs to take a little advice from Tred Barta. dont always take the easy way out. push yourself to your max and be happy with what you can get.

We all need to stop wishing we had something we don't. If you don't have the money for a Governor's tag, do what you can afford. I feel sorry for folks who never experience do-it-yourself hunts. I've done both and there is no comparrison in the satisfaction. The point is, do what you can and make the most of it. Don't compare yourself or your situation to other people's. Be happy for them; be glad they're hunting! We don't need folks with Governor's tag caliber money against us. Besides, a lot of that money goes for conservation! It's time we unite together as hunters and realize that not everyone has the same style and goals.
