2 Elk Fighting…Fence Wins
November 13th, 2007 David King - King's Outdoor World
Check out these amazing photos of two bull elk found on the side of the road in Dixon, Montana! These two bulls decided to fight through the fence. They removed 100 yards of fence. The big bull was 7 X 6. What a mess.

This kind of thing always bums me out. Right up there with the large animals getting killed on the roadside.

How can you lagh at that and say this is funny. This is very sad. no animal should have to die this way. As a hunter you should want every animal to die as fast and as humanly as possible. I hope that you do not represent the hunting community.

Not funny at all, this is very sad. It sounds like someone want’s to be like the boy’s but don’t have a clue about wildlife.

Looking at the second picture it looks like one of the bulls is still looks alive, did the game and fish put him down. Some time nature as a srange way of doing thing??

it kinda does look that way but by the way the deer looks, the barbed wire might have choked him.

That’s a good point, the animals very well could have been sedated before moved. But if so why did’nt they just cut the wire. 100yrds. thats alot of brut strenth. Glad i’m not the fence.

“Some time nature as a srange way of doing thing??”
Mother Nature didn’t make that fence anymore than she made Margarine.

I am from the reservation where these two elk were and the game warden had to put both of these amazing animals out of their missery the barb wire was tangled up so bad that the elk were just suffering and it is sad to see these amazing animals die this way.

So sorry these type of happenings happen.. I feel so sad about the pain these guys were feeling..In a way this is a comparison of what humans could do to each oher if it weren’t for the law close by!1

I agree, it is sad to see such majestic animals suffer like that. At least the game warden was able to end their suffering. Does anyone know what they did with them? It would be good to donate the meat to a organization like Hunters for the Hungry. My Dad and I donate a couple deer and antelope each year to help feed those who need it. Oh, and Matthew # 6, it is not just the boys that hunt and respect the wildlife.

they have on display at the tribal complex they had the skulls cleaned and bleached on now on display the meat went to the elders of the res

mother nature always finds a way to awe! Man on the other hand always find a way to alter mother nature, or try to regulate it. I wonder why there is barbed wire on a reservation where there is wild elk?
A a farmer and a hunter I was raised to respect all of gods animals. Raising them , butchering or hunting them. I agree with the consensus of hunters in the previous blogs Michelle(femail spelling of that name) is insensitive to an acuelty sensitive circumstance; regarding the majestic bull elks. Perhaps most are aware its the HUNTERS who have contributed the most towards protecting and making big game animals such as elk huntable because of protecting and managing there population. We as hunters are united in the care and respect we show towards these game animals we hunt. I applaud the editor for posting Michelle’s blog. Perhaps there is hope for someone who many may regard as clueless or insensitive. Man/Woman have 3 dimentional minds, the only creature known to possess this higher intellect;we know right from wrong. Fair chase is important to me, but not everyone

It is very sad to see 2 huge elk have to go down that way, rather than by way of bow.
