This could very well be the whitetail buck of the year as far as typical is concerned. Hunter Joel Eggers arrowed this monster 11-point Illinois buck in Randolph County on October 23rd. As you can see the deer’s body is huge and the rack is just as big. So far the unofficial green score comes in at 211 gross and 198 41/8 net typical P&Y. We’ll have to wait until the end of December to see how the official score pans out.
Joel is just 22-years old and had picked up the sheds to this buck and had been chasing it for the lasts couple of years.
This won’t be the Illinois state record, however, it will one of the top bucks in the state and very well could be the highest scoring net typical whitetail deer taken in 2007…we’ll have to see.
There has been a lot of talk about these spectacular mule deer sheds. Like I posted earlier, there were some monster 307 gross mule deer sheds found in the spring of 2007 by Landon Wittwer. Here is a video clip I took of Landon’s great sheds.

47-inches wide
24-inch inside spread was used
208 5/8 gross typical frame
41 7/8-inches of total mass
15×10 points
307 1/8 gross score
301 4/8 net non-typical score

This is a 2007 Sportsman X2 800 model. Polaris has changed a few things on the 2008 model and offered in different engine cc. Pretty slick operation where you can convert the back dump box into another passenger seat.

Let’s face it…I have hit a deer before and it is not fun. Now, can you imagine coming around a corner and seeing a Grizzly Bear in the headlights. Check out those claws! Here is some information about what happened:
Big bear-2007 Lincoln Road Bear, Montana
Take a look at this guy (estimated 750 - 800lbs). 12 years old - had been trapped and lip tattooed on Dupuyer Creek in 1996. DNA hair sample have been collected from him at a few locations both on the Front and in the Blackfoot the last couple years. Killed last night by a logging truck West of Lincoln on Hwy 200.

Jim Willmsen emailed me his video he posted on this whitetail buck that he shot last week. One twist on the situation, though, was this buck was locked on to another buck that was already dead. Jim shot an 18-point buck deer Friday, October 26, 2007. The deer was dragging a second, 10-point buck, after the two deer had fought and their antlers had become irreversibly locked together. Willmsen talks about the deer, and the hunt.
