Huge Wyoming Buck Found Dead

Wyoming Buck Found Dead

Back in November of 2007 there was a tremendous mule deer that was found dead. Some people are claiming it was a wolf kill. It does look like it was a predator kill, but I am not jumping to that conclusion until I can get confirmation and I haven’t been able to get word yet from Wyoming Fish and Game.

However, let’s take a look at this huge buck. Fish and Game took the head and because of the size of the antlers ended up getting it scored by SCI. His right side is definitely the strongest with a 26-inch main beam and 20 6/8-inch G2. This buck has a beautiful 209 6/8 typical frame. Add the almost 27-inches of abnormal points and you have a trophy mule deer that scores 236 5/8 SCI. The deductions would put him close to the 230 net non-typical mark which would be an all-time record book buck for Boone & Crockett. What a buck.

What a buck! Sometimes its nice to see a good, old buck meet its fate naturally…gives it some dignity. Unless it turns out to be a wolf kill - no dignity in that, just a horrible way to go. Look forward to news about the why or how it was killed.

Nice deer. Tom, I couldn’t disagree more. Wolves ARE a natural part of the system, or were at least once upon a time…. If it was in fact a wolf kill . The sooner you come to terms with that Tom, the better. Get over it.

That’s a nice muley. It is good to see one go like that instead of being taken before he’s even a four point. I wish Wyoming would put at least a 3×3 limit on bucks so we could see more like that. Did he come from Pinedale? Sorenson sounds familiar. It’s about time locals have the opportunity to help the deer and elk population by legally hunting wolves. Myself, as well as a lot of locals believe they are one of the major reasons for the decline in elk and deer. Wolves are a brilliant animal and I do like seeing them, but they have become overpopulated again. I remember one being in Boulder around 12 years ago (when there were no wolves in the area). How many deer and elk have the offspring of the Boulder,WY wolf taken since then. What do I know I’m just a crane operator. By the way, contrary to popular belief those people at least whom I work directly with on the anticline do what we can to protect the animals and migration. A lot of us are hunters, fishermen, and outdoorsmen ourselves so we don’t want to see it go away. Also why are people across the country so harsh on the gas field? Don’t they go home in gas powered cars, to their gas/electric heated house, and enjoy all the gas and coal generated electrical appliances. How about everything within your sight right now that makes your life easier, being delivered by a 4 to 6 MPG diesel powered truck. Most of which gets dicarded for better or bigger when it still serves the purpose. I didn’t start out trying to get off track however people should really look at their own habbits, cut back, and try to conserve what we have before it’s gone.

Heck of deer. To whoever found it, and if it has died of natural causes, wolf kill or whatever, why does the wyoming fish and game have it? Just curious is all.

Man what a trophy!!! The wolf, if it was a wolf, still couldn’t eat the antlers. Good to see that someone found it before the skull and antlers were destroyed.
