Video: Mark Hogan 264 Gross Mule Deer

I have been gathering up some great heads for our upcoming 2008 King’s Calendars. I was recently at Mark Hogan’s house taking pictures of his great Utah velvet buck. This monster mule deer scores 264 gross and is 37 1/2-inches wide. What I really like about it is it also has a tremendous 217 typical frame to boot. Mark’s buck was also featured on the cover of our Hunting Illustrated Magazine back in January (Jan/Feb 2007 Issue) and will be featured in our upcoming 2008 King’s Mule Deer Calendar.

Big Bucks Vol. 2 DVD
Mark was also able to get his hunt captured on film and has some great footage. Christensen Outdoors has recently released their new hunting DVD, Big Bucks Vol. 2, which has the footage of the Hogan buck. A great DVD that you can buy right now in our Video Vault. Eagle Takes Down a Deer

This video is circulating around quite a bit lately. This is some incredible footage of an eagle taking down a deer. It looks pretty set up, but still shows the power of what an eagle can do. This footage ties in to an article Michael Burrell did in our Mule Deer Watch section of Hunting Illustrated about Eagles and Deer. You can read some comments about it on this earlier post and see another video clip here.

Here is another clip of video that is basically a photo slide show of some amazing photography of eagles attacking animals from deer, fox to wolves!

July 4th Parades with the King’s Rig

This past July 4th was busy as we participated in three different parades. There is nothing like small town USA and the parades that are part of the fourth of July festivities. I drove our show truck and trailer with family and coworkers as the kids threw candy, Otter Pops and King’s “God Bless America” posters to the crowd. All in all it was a great time. Here is a short clip of some of the parade action.

Video: Antler Fest 2007

I stopped by AntlerFest 2007 back on June 9th and got some footage of some of the highlights. Of course many people came to see Landon Wittwer’s amazing mule deer sheds that go 307 gross and are the biggest sheds ever found. There is a glimpse of them here, but I will be posting another video segment a bit later with some great video of these world record mule deer sheds.

There is a cool pickup buck and a quick glimpse of the elk shed from the Skoronski bull that was taken in Utah 2006 that went 428 net typical.

Winchester SX3 - How Fast Can You Shoot?

Amazing footage of world record holding Xtreme Sport Shooter, Patrick Flanigan, shooting a Winchester Super X3 shotgun. This shotgun fires a dozen Winchester AA 12 gauge shells in an astonishing 1.442 seconds, timed from first to last shot. The SX3 used by Flanigan was not specially prepared in any way other than having an extended magazine holding 11 shells, nor was the filming sped up. Do you think Flanigan’s shoulder was a little sore after that day of shooting?

Video Guess the Score, Win Prize

I just had the great typical mule deer brought up for me to score. It is a buck that was taken in Utah back in the 1950s and had never been scored until now. It is a very pretty buck, so I decided to give everyone a chance to see what they think it scores.

Take a look at the video and then leave a comment on what you think it scores. Give me THREE things: total gross score, net typical score after deductions and then outside spread. The gross score just for fun, but the person who gets the net score correctly (or the closest one) will win a prize. If there is a tie then I will see who got the outside spread the closest and that will be the tie breaker.

What is the prize? How about a King’s ShadowCamo Fleece Jacket in their choice of Desert Shadow or Mountain Shadow pattern. That’s not bad. We are looking at about a $80 value. I will be taking scores for a while and then close it down and declare a winner. Good Luck!

UPDATE: The winner is in and voting is now taken down. Winner is Nick Saner who guessed the score at 193 gross and 186 net. The real score is 186 1/8 net.

More Video Polaris Ranger RZR Razor 800

I had an opportunity to see the new Ranger RZR 800 EFI Side by Side in South Carolina at a ride event on Tuesday. Unfortunately they had just one there to show and they would not let me take it for a spin. But I was able to get some more video and did a short tour around the machine and went through some of the features.

I also compared it next to the new Polaris Sportsman 800 X2 ATV to show the size of the Ranger Razor RZR 800

Video World Record Muzzleloader Typical Elk

Here is a short video clip of Doug Degelbeck’s world record typical muzzleloader bull elk. This bull was taken September of 2006 on a self-guided public land hunt in Utah. The video was taken shortly after Doug had his bull officially scored at 417 7/8 gross and 412 7/8 net typical B&C. This elk is the third largest bull on record as a straight 6×6 point. What a beautiful elk!

You can read the full story on Doug’s hunt in the current issue of Hunting Illustrated (April/May 2007) out on newsstands now.

You will also be able to see Doug’s great bull in the upcoming 2008 King’s Bull Elk Calendar.

Video Yamaha Grizzly 700 Winner

People really do win cool stuff here at King’s Outdoor World. Here is a video showing our Yamaha Grizzly 700 ATV winner from the contest we had at the Hunting and Conservation Expo back in January 2007. This video shows the winner, Brad Stocks, sitting on his new Yamaha Grizzly 700 FI ATV with the industry first power steering. This video is from the day that I dropped it off to Brad.

The unique thing about this ATV is that is it the only one dipped in our King’s Desert Shadow Camouflage right now, and we ended up giving it away through our Hunting Illustrated Magazine along with the great support from Yamaha. Congratulations Brad.
