Before you guys congratulate the men too much, realize that John Lewton is under investigation for several illegal activities surrounding the taking of a previous bighorn ram in the same area of the Missouri River breaks a year prior. a beautiful trophy is great for all of us to look at, but when the methods of take involve trespassing, illegal guiding, airplane surveillance, and several other questionable acts, perhaps a pat on the back is not deserved. This ram may have not been taken in that fasion, but considering they don't even look sweaty i highly doubt they hiked 10 miles in 90 degree weather to get that hog.

To Ross, comment #22:

It doesn't "depend on your viewpoint" because these aren't subjective issues.

Wolves being reintroduced into the ecosystem here in Wyoming are causing problems.

I see comments suggesting ranchers "pen or fence in their animals." That is a naive statement. The government comes along, decides to take an action affecting thousands of lives and the solution is for the private citizen to take the penalty?

These animals kill for pleasure. They are a danger to populated areas and should never have been reintroduced into an ecosystem that had rebalanced. Now the citizens are expected to pay the price for it while wolf advocates sit on the sidelines saying, "tough, deal with it" while they themselves are totally unaffected and have no actual stake in the situation.

Dearest Jorden,

Where do you think the steaks you bought at the grocery came from? Do you think the way that the cow was treated is more ethical that killing a wild animal? If this, or any, beautiful bull elk was taken for just its antlers, then yes, it's a travesty. We hunt for meat, not sport and it's far more "Organic" than anything you can buy. Yes, when I do kill any animal I thank God and the animal for giving it's life to feed my family. Do you do this when you're at the checkout?

Wow,
What a conversation. I would like to give you guys a different perspective because I do not have a dog in the fight. You guys are blessed to ever have an opportunity to even hunt elk, fence or not. Recently the state of KY has reintroduced an Elk herd here in the State of KY with great success. The bad news is that you cannot get a tag.I have applied for the last eight years and it seems that the tags either go to someone who knows someone or to out of state hunters, the leftover tags get distributed out the way they are supposed to but there are not many. If you have even hunted elk consider yourself blessed.
It seems like this argument is broken down just like a political argument democrat (liberal) vs. Republican (Conservative well at least while Reagan was around). Anyway if someone wants to offer a hunt behind high fence why would anyone care. The landowner has a right to use his land the way he sees fit. Even if it is a petting zoo, who cares if is not hurting you. The scores are not allowed in Pope & Young or Boone & Crockett. So if the landowner can manage and sell a hunt more power to him. That's America or at least it will be until all our guns are taken away by liberalism and a left wing agenda. Benjamin Franklin said it best: We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately. Sure he was signing the constitution but the lesson applies to us hunters as well.
